¡ñ Zhu Hongren, the vice Director General of the Economy
Supervising Bureau of National Development and Reform
Council, pointed out on January 27 th, 2006 that the
shortage condition of the electricity supply would be hard
to be solved, and the widest gap between the supply and
demand of electricity would be as high as 25 million KW.
¡ñ This year, the supply condition of electricity in
Guangdong Province is much more strained than that of the
last year. The widest electricity shortage gap will be
more than 6 million KW, which is one-fourth of the
national electricity shortage. The total electricity
demand of the whole society will reach 274.5 billion KW,
increase 15%, comparing with the statistic of the same
period time last year. The highest demand will be 46
million, increase 15.8%, comparing with the statistic of
the same period time last year. However, compares with the
total electricity demand of the whole province, the amount
of electricity will be in the shortage of 23.7 billion
KWH, which is 9% of the total consumption of the whole
society. The shortage of the electricity supply will be
more than 6 million KW, which is 24% of the total national
shortage. The amount of the electricity shortage will soar
greatly, which will result in the shortage condition of
both electricity production and electricity amount.
¡ñ In order to meet the electricity demand, Guangdong
Province will largely increase the supply and purchase of
electricity. The amount will reach 243.5 billion KWH,
increases by 13.1%. According to the concerned principal
from Guangzhou Electric Bureau of Guangdong Electric
Group, in the first season of this year, Guangzhou
confronted the most strained condition of electricity
consumption. The news reporter of No.1 Finance Daily got
the information from the Electric Resource Bureau of
Guandong Economy and Trade Committee and the Southern
Power Grid that the electricity supply from the West would
increase 4.4 billion KWH; and the biggest electrical
capacity would increase 2 million KWH. Meanwhile, they
would try the best to get 1.9 billion KWH more electricity
supply from the Three Gorges Power Station. Besides,
Guangzhou would plan to invest 18.9 billion RMB to quicken
the construction of the electric network; in that case,
the strain between the electricity supply and demand will
be released in the year of 2010.
